LETTERS: Stolen bike steals resident’s faith in student community

As a non-student resident in Campustown, I want to say that I have enjoyed living amongst all of the young adults who make up the heart and soul of Ames.

A recent rash of thefts — items that were in my yard no less — has soured me on the experience, however.

Specifically, Saturday night after the football game, my 14-year old son’s bicycle was stolen.

Yes, he forgot to lock it, but he has been punished enough. This is his only means of transportation, and he needs it returned.

It is a blue Marin, and it has a lock you cannot open. Please return it to the parking lot at St. Thomas Aquinas Church off of Ash Avenue, and no questions will be asked.

He will, hopefully, learn a lesson from this, my faith in the goodness of the general student population will be restored, and I can go back to enjoying living in this neighborhood.
