Nutcracker auditions on Sunday at Stephens

Auditions for the annual Iowa State Center production of “The Nutcracker Ballet” start at noon Sunday at Stephens Auditorium.

In order to audition, participants must be at least six years old by the performance date and arrive early to register. Registration begins at 11:15 a.m. In addition, all dancers should wear leotards, tights and ballet or pointe shoes. Candidates should be ready to audition at their designated time.

The show will cast more than 300 performers. This season marks the 29th year the show will be performed at the Iowa State Center.

Audition schedule:

Noon–3 p.m.

Children ages 6 and above for the roles of Fritz and Friends, Angels, Indian boys, Mother Ginger’s children, Soldiers, Mice, Russians and Harlequins

3–4 p.m.

Individuals for the roles of first act party guests, Drosselmeyer, Maids, Mouse King, Justice Silberhaus and Frau Silberhaus

4–7 p.m.

Individuals for the roles of ballet dancers for such parts as Dolls, Flutes, Spanish, Chinese, Flower soloists, Snowflakes, Neopolitans, Hungarians, Arabians, Irish and Nutcracker
