ISU Ballroom Dance Club begins dance lessons Friday
September 8, 2009
Dancing will be held in the Gallery Room of the Memorial Union Friday, rather than in Forker.
The ISU Ballroom Dance Club will offer its first class for beginners wanting to learn to dance at 6:30 p.m. in the Gallery Room of the Memorial Union. It’s free and no partner is required.
The regular Friday ballroom social will follow at 7:30. Dance genres include swing, waltz, foxtrot, cha-cha, tango and rumba.
Due to the new budget model, the ability for the ISU Ballroom Dance Club — along with other clubs such as Cyclone Ballroom and ISU Swing Society — to use Forker is up in the air. Recreation Services was formerly in charge of assuring Forker would be open for clubs. That duty is now out of its hands, so the money must be found elsewhere.
Because of this, the lessons planned for Tuesday are still not certain. Visit the club’s Web site, www.stuorg.iastate.edu/ballroom, for updated information.
Mark Mehl, treasurer of ISU Ballroom Dance Club, said the club’s Web site will be up to date, and e-mails will be sent out to update those who wish to subscribe to them.
