NCAA president Myles Brand dies after fight with pancreatic cancer

The Associated Press has reported that NCAA president Myles Brand has died at age 67 after his battle with pancreatic cancer.
Brand was diagnosed in December of 2008 and announced his condition to the NCAA in January of 2009.
Brand, who was the first university president to take over the athletics’ governing body, had served as president since 2003, and is now the first acting NCAA president to die.
Before serving as the NCAA’s president, he was president at the Universities of Oregon and Indiana from 1994 until he was elected in the winter of 2002.
