Guest mentalist brings audience into his performance
September 8, 2009
A man who can “control solid matter by levitating, melting and twisting coins, keys and spoons with only a thought” is coming to Iowa State.
Scott Xavier, a mentalist from Chicago, will perform at 9 p.m. Friday in the Great Hall of the Memorial Union.
Xavier has performed at corporate and college events around the world, and allows the audience to get in on his illusions and techniques. His act includes mental guessing games and hypnosis for stunts, such as spoon bending and audience member levitation.
He earned a degree in criminal justice and worked with the Illinois State Police crime lab for a time. Health problems forced him to change careers.
Xavier stated he doesn’t like traditional magic, so don’t expect it at any of his performances. The performance should last about one hour and 20 minutes.
