T3. Chris Cuellar — Daily Staff Writer (11-7)

Guest Pick — Kevin O’Neill — Iowa State Daily Advertising Account Associate
1. Iowa State @ Kent State
Nate: Iowa State – Arnaud and the Cyclone offense have a bit of a come to Jesus moment this week, and find a way to quell the road streak.
Michael: Iowa State – The Cyclones bounce back from a rough Iowa game with a W.
Chris: Iowa State – Cyclones get a shot at ending the road losing streak against a competitive Kent State club. Rhoads ends the losing woes away from Jack Trice. You get one more chance Cyclones.
Jake: Iowa State – I don’t know if it’s the idiot in me or the optimist saying this, but the losing streak ends this week.
Kevin: Iowa State – Good News: Iowa State wins its first road game of my Iowa State career! Bad News: I’m a senior.
2. No. 14 Georgia Tech @ No. 20 Miami
Nate: Miami – The Hurricanes benefit from their homefield advantage and pull off a win.
Michael: Miami– The Hurricanes are actually underrated at the beginning of this season. When is the last time that happened?
Chris: Georgia Tech – Miami looked great against Florida State, and its team speed will keep it in the game. Despite this, they are still just too young to contain the Yellow Jackets.
Jake: Miami – The U is fast. Really fast.
Kevin: Miami – Miami wins the showdown for best team in the ACC. The loser? The ACC.
3. No. 19 Nebraska @ No. 13 Virginia Tech
Nate: Virginia Tech – Bo Pelini pulls a Kanye and interupts Tech’s press conference to tell the world the Huskers should have won.
Michael: Virginia Tech – Va Tech’s 34-24 lost to Alabama showed me they are a legitimate team. Nebraska hasn’t done anything yet.
Chris: Nebraska – I took Beamer ball to start the year in an upset, but Blacksburg just isn’t the same. Bo Pelini’s Huskers will be ready for their first national test.
Jake: Virginia Tech – These aren’t your dad’s Huskers. Otherwise, this might be a different story.
Kevin: Virginia Tech – Virginia Tech wins a close game.
4. No. 18 Utah @ Oregon
Nate: Utah – The Ducks’ early season struggles may continue, but at least they will look fly in those Nike uniforms.
Michael: Oregon – After a somewhat shaky start, the Ducks will get that high powered offense rolling.
Chris: Utah – Utah has looked a little shaky to start the year, but no team in the country has looked shakier than Oregon.
Jake: Utah – The Utes have won 16 straight games. They’ll make it 17.
Kevin: Utah – Oregon proves how good mid majors really are, by losing to another.
5. Arizona @ Iowa
Nate: Iowa – Hawkeyes picked up a bit of momentum after last week. It carries over into week three.
Michael: Iowa – As much as it pains me to pick the Hawks, they are alright this year.
Chris: Iowa – Both teams look eerily similar statistically heading into this game, but Iowa’s Cy-Hawk victory is a morale booster that puts them over the edge back at Kinnick.
Jake: Iowa – Iowa’s good at home. Arizona is a middle-of-the pack team.
Kevin: Arizona – Iowa is overconfident after scoring a MAJOR upset last week. They’ll lose.
6. Michigan State @ Notre Dame
Nate: Michigan State – This is a huge game for both teams but Michigan State finds a way to pull the upset on the road. ‘Mike Dantonio, holla at cha boy.’
Michael: Notre Dame – Michigan State’s run of road wins in South Bend comes to a close.
Chris: Notre Dame – What a stinker. I’ll take Notre Dame to restore some faith and get Jimmy Claussen’s face alongside Lou Holtz and Touchdown Jesus in gold, with a lackluster performance against the struggling Spartans.
Jake: Notre Dame – This a huge game for both teams. The Irish looked good last week, save the bad offensive play calling.
Kevin: Michigan State – Michigan State wins the Who-Hates-Michigan-More Bowl.
7. Connecticut @ Baylor
Nate: Baylor – The Bears have the tools to be a surprise in the Big 12 and UConn will soon find that out.
Michael: Baylor – The Bears are good enough to beat a basketball school.
Chris: Baylor – UConn has struggled during the first two weeks, but character building won’t be enough to overcome the Baylor defense in another low scoring-ball possession game for Robert Griffin and the Bears.
Jake: Baylor – Robert Griffin and the Bears looked solid in their opener. They should continue their growth this week.
Kevin: Connecticut – As a Big 12 senior, I’ve never seen Baylor be good at anything. UConn wins.
8. Wyoming @ Colorado
Nate: Wyoming – Colorado St. and Toledo? Really? Colorado continues its painful start.
Michael: Wyoming – Wyoming looked good for a quarter against No.2 Texas. Colorado hasn’t looked good yet.
Chris: Wyoming – The Cowboys giving Texas fits wasn’t a fluke, and neither was the fact that Colorado gave up 54 points to a MAC school. This is a low scoring sleeper that turns up the incinerator on Dan Hawkins’ office chair.
Jake: Wyoming – Colorado is bad. I mean, really bad.
Kevin: Colorado – Colorado wins as Wyoming won’t be used to the altitude in Boulder.
9. West Virginia @ Auburn
Nate: Auburn – With Colorado coming up in week four, a surging Mountaineers captialize on the chance to start 4-0
Michael: Auburn – The Tigers win their third game under Chizik, matching his first year total at Iowa State.
Chris: Auburn – I don’t want to believe this is happening. Chizik’s offense is averaging over 570 yards of offense a game. Oh, the humanity.
Jake: Auburn – Ugh. This hurts. Auburn looks legit.
Kevin: West Virginia – West Virginia wins by sitting on the WR Screen as Chizik stubbornly forces it all day.
