Victoria Henson became the fastest ISU volleyball player to record 1,000 kills in a career on Wednesday night in Lubbock, Texas.
The junior outside hitter racked up a match-high 14 kills, helping No. 14 Iowa State defeat Texas Tech in straight sets 25–15, 25–14, 25–17. She is only the eighth player in school history to reach the mark.
The Cyclones (11–3, 3–2 Big 12) soundly defeated the Red Raiders (2–10, 0–3), holding them to a .069 hitting percentage, out-blocking them 9–4 and hitting .362, their third-highest percentage this season.
Iowa State trailed 9–8 in the first set before breaking off a 17–6 run to win the set. The second set was a different story as the Cyclones held the lead for the duration. The third set saw Henson record six kills to give her 1,000 in her career, as well as a sweep-clenching 15–7 run by the Cyclones to end the set.
Sophomore outside hitter Rachel Hockaday recorded double-digit kills for the third straight match with 12, while Big 12 Defensive Player of the Week Ashley Mass paced the Cyclones with 14 digs. Senior setter Kaylee Manns recorded a double-double with 33 assist and 11 digs.
