August 24, 2009
An area businessman announced his intention to run for the at-large city council seat.
Mike Miller, owner and operator of Gallery 319, 310 Main St., will be up for the seat in November’s election.
Miller graduated from Iowa State in 1984 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in graphic design.
“I’m running because I want to give back to the community,” Miller said in a statement. “Ames is a great town. As an Ames businessman, I make a payroll twice a month. I have a direct interest in the vitality and the economic development of Ames. With my practical experience both in business and the arts, I am uniquely positioned for leadership.”
Also on Monday, Brian McClain announced he will run for the Ward 3 seat and Sheli Dougherty will run for the at-large seat on the Council.
