ARRP names Ames fifth best place to live ‘the simple life’

Ames was recently ranked number five in AARP the Magazine’s “Best Places to Live.”
Ames was selected for its “wholesome Americana” vibe, a “lively downtown area” and the assortment of parks and bike trails, including Ada Hayden Heritage Park. Ames has an affordable cost of living with a median housing price of $159,270, according to statistics from the magazine.
Tuscan, Ariz., Greenville, S.C. and Montpelier, Vt., were among the other cities selected for the list.
AARP is a non-profit organization targeted toward retirees aged 50 years or older.
