The National Soil Tilth Laboratory, located on the east side of campus, is changing its name to the National Laboratory for Agriculture and the Environment. The renaming will take effect on Oct. 1.

According to a press release from laboratory director Jerry Hatfield, the name change coincides with major organizational changes to the laboratory’s research.

“We have focused our research into five major areas that cover soil processes: air quality and climate change, animal nutrition and environmental quality, cropping systems, and watershed and water quality management,” Hatfield said.
