Cyclones wide receiver arrested
June 21, 2009
ISU wide receiver and senior Wallace Franklin has been kicked off the football team. Franklin was arrested and charged with public intoxication early Thursday morning after being discovered slumped against a building on Welch Avenue.
The arrest was Franklin’s third in 15 months, but his first alcohol-related incident. On March 2, 2008, Franklin was arrested after a fight with another individual and charged with disorderly conduct and interference with official acts. On May 4, 2008, Franklin was involved in a fight that included several parties. He was again charged with interference with official acts.
After the two incidences in 2008, Franklin was suspended by then-coach Gene Chizik.
Franklin’s contributions to Cyclone football were two catches for five yards and a touchdown, all in 2007.
