LETTER: ‘Girls’ overwhelmed by Ames support
April 26, 2009
On April 23 at the Memorial Union, author Jeff Zaslow introduced his new book, “The Girls from Ames,” about the lifelong friendships among 11 women. Ten of the 11 women returned to Ames to attend Zaslow’s presentation.
We, the 10 “Girls from Ames,” were overwhelmed with the positive support we received from our friends, family and community. It was remarkable to share the evening with so many people.
A special thank you goes to all who attended, and the sponsors of the event: the Ames Public Library and the Committee on Lectures, funded by Iowa State’s Government of the Student Body.
Also, we would like to thank the Ames Borders bookstore local staff and staff from Omaha, Des Moines and Ann Arbor, Mich., for making the book signing that day such an enjoyable experience.
Everyone’s support and enthusiasm is appreciated, and it reminded us all of how much we love Ames and its people.
