April 29, 2009
This August will be the last time Iowa State plans to celebrate students’ graduation through summer commencement ceremonies.
This year’s ceremony will be Aug. 8. According to the ISU News Service, most students graduating in the summer will be able to walk at the spring ceremony, and all graduates will be able to walk during the fall ceremony.
According to the news service, Associate Provost Dave Holgerc cited “tight budgets, the need to use resources more efficiently and declining interest, particularly among undergraduate students,” as reasons for elimintatig the summer ceremony.
