- When Iowa State has entered the Big 12 tournament in years’ past with 20 wins or more, the team has won its first game.
- This is only the second time that the Cyclones have gone into the tournament as 3rd seed. The last time Iowa State was the third seed was in 2001.
- In his time in Ames as head coach, Bill Fennelly has led the Cyclones to nine seasons with 20 wins or more. Iowa State had five straight seasons (1998-2002) with over 20 wins and in those five, the Cyclones won two Big 12 championship titles.
- The Cyclones are 20-10 in the Big 12 tournament since 1997. Iowa State has won more Big 12 Championships than any team in the league, with 20.
- Last year, Iowa State lost in the semi-final game to Texas A&M. In the Cyclones’ three tournament games in 2008, Heather Ezell set a tournament record with 17 three-pointers, becoming the only player on the Big 12 All-tournament team that did not play in the championship game.
- In 2007, the Cyclones fell to Oklahoma in the championship by just seven points.
- Alison Lacey was solid in the tournament last year as a sophomore with 14, 11 and 17 points in Iowa State’s three games.
