RECAP:
OKLAHOMA CITY – Missouri became the first and only team with a first-round bye to advance out of the second round of the Big 12 Championships on Thursday, defeating Texas Tech 81-60.
Missouri held Mike Singletary, who scorched Texas A&M for 41 points on Wednesday, relatively in check, allowing him to score 17 points, still a team high.
DeMarre Carroll led the Tigers with 19 points.
After a close first half, the game was tied at 35 with 18:02 left. Missouri then scored 13 straight points over the next four minutes, and the Red Raiders never got closer than nine points as the Tigers pulled away.
Missouri scored 50 points in the second half.
PLAYER OF THE GAME: DeMarre Carroll, forward, Missouri (19 points, 5 rebounds)
Carroll was 9-of-14 from the field and provided consistant scoring though out the game.
WHAT IT MEANS:
No. 3 Missouri vs. No. 7 Oklahoma State at 8:30 p.m. on The Big 12 Network
Missouri was the only team that didn’t play on Wednesday to advance to play on Friday. No. 1 seed Kansas, No. 2 seed Oklahoma, and No. 4 seed Kansas State all lost on Thursday, leaving the door wide open for Missouri to reach to win the championship. They run into, however, a hot Oklahoma State team, and will play in front of a mostly orange-clad Cowboys’ crowd on Friday.
