March 6, 2009
Gary Wells, distinguished professor of psychology, will appear on CBS’s “60 Minutes” on Sunday, according to a press release. The show will feature the research of Wells and his graduate student Deah Quinlivan on eyewitness misidentification in criminal cases. According to Wells’ research, “mistaken eyewitness identification accounts now for more convictions of innocent people than all other causes combined.”
The press release states that Wells helped develop the first set of national guidelines on eyewitness evidence, and continues to update his research.
The show will air on channel 8 at 6 p.m.
