LETTERS: Daily’s judgment lacks all the facts
March 3, 2009
As chairwoman of the University Committee on Women, I am writing this letter to express concern about the Jan. 22 editorial, “Numbers add up to greedy lawsuit, not fair treatment,” which dealt with the case surrounding the settlement to be paid to former softball coach Ruth Crowe. What concerns us is not the substance of the editorial, as neither the Daily nor the University Committee on Women has all the facts about this case. Rather, our concern stems from the willingness on the part of the paper to disparage a woman’s right to question her treatment. As was mentioned in the previous sentence, none of us has access to all the facts in this case and thus we are not in a position to render any judgment in this matter.
