LETTERS: Correcting last year’s mistakes

For those who were around for Veishea 2008, it looks as though the 2009 committee has geared their entertainment selection toward redemption. It is unbelievable how much flack the committee received for not only the wristband policy, but the selection of Eve 6, which most of us remember from our middle school days.

With the selection of Cartel and Straylight Run, there is an apparent push for more recently successful bands. With hits like “Say Anything (Else)” and “Honestly,” it’s no wonder why Cartel has been a favorite of the alternative rock genre, and the same goes for Straylight Run with “Existentialism on Prom Night.”

With complimentary acts like Ludo and The Morning Light, and with a performance by country star Jamey Johnson, this year’s Live @ Veishea event looks to be one to remember.

The wristband policy, which was the main focus of student groups last year, has also been amended. The new policy allows for looser regulations on who and how many can be there, but also maintains a necessary level of control.

Overall, I applaud the corrections made by the Veishea committee this year, and I can not wait until Live @ Veishea.
