GSB to finalize allocations
March 23, 2009
The Government of the Student Body will finalize Regular Allocations for the upcoming fiscal year at Wednesday’s meeting.
Regular Allocations is the process of distributing money to student groups on campus. The money comes from the student activity fee, and this year’s pot is $1.3 million — which GSB has to allocate to about 140 different organizations.
The senate will vote on the Regular Allocations bill at the meeting, which contains the budgets of each group requesting funds. However, a senator, at his or her discretion or at the request of a group, can pull out individual groups and debate them separately.
Finance director Tom Danielson, senior in civil engineering, said at least eight groups will be pulled out of the bill and debated separately: Ethos, Trend, Uhuru, Sketch, Dance Marathon, GSB, Freshman Council and the Brazilian-Portuguese Association.
