LETTERS: Drop the excuses, save a life by donating to the blood drive

In the wake of a time centered on change, we, as Iowa State students and faculty, have not only an opportunity but an obligation to initiate change and create a difference.

Donating blood makes a difference. Everyone knows that blood donation saves lives and that there is a constant demand for blood, so why doesn’t everyone donate?

Scared of needles?

Not enough time?

Never thought about it?

Imagine if every Cyclone overcame whatever fear or excuse that exists, and donated — what kind of difference and impact would that make?

For those in need, the difference could mean life or death.

Every minute of every day, someone needs a blood transfusion, and the only place to get blood is from a donor. Iowa State University is getting students involved with saving lives by donating blood at the Spring 2009 iGive Blood Drive.

The motto, “iGive so they may live,” insinuates the real effect a donation has on life.

With the entire campus community united for this common cause, Iowa State can truly have an impact on the lives of people in need.

Whatever the reason may be for lack of prior donation, set it aside, and come be a part of a campus wide effort to save lives and impact the community.

Come to the Great Hall in the Memorial Union March 23–26 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., to initiate change and make a difference!
