LETTERS: Kudos to open-minded columnist on Salt visit

I want to commend Sophie Prell on such a poignant article in yesterday’s paper. In an age where many students fear exposing their vulnerability and a changed opinion, you expressed both in a very respectful way. What a great reminder that, as you mentioned, none of us were meant to be perfect — and Christian or non-Christian, black or white, disabilities or none, we should continue to respect and listen to others’ beliefs and backgrounds without any judgment or condescending attitudes.

As a Christ-follower myself, I’m relieved that we are made to be human ‘beings,’ not human ‘doings,’ for a reason. Without our Creator in the lead, we will most definitely screw things up. Kudos to Samantha for displaying behavior that we all need to learn from — to accept others without any agenda other than to listen and not “push” too far. I hope to meet you in the future to commend you in person. As a Salt-goer myself, I want to let you know that whether your experience takes you back to Salt Company on a weekly basis, or never again, I respect you for your transparency and writing about your experience.
