Iowa State may receive funding from House bill

The House of Representatives is expected to consider the 2009 Omnibus Bill on Wednesday, with funding going toward Iowa State.

According to a press release, Rep. Bruce Braley, D-Iowa, has secured $42 million for Iowa Programs in the bill. The funding will be used to “expand access to health care, improve Iowa infrastructure, and save a create jobs in eastern Iowa.”

If the bill passes, Iowa State will receive $1,791,000 for an odor mitigation study. The funding will be used to research cost-effective ways to reduce livestock odor that decreases the property values of homes and businesses located near livestock facilities, the press release said.
