Carleton wins Cheryl Miller Award
April 4, 2019
The awards continue to pile up for Bridget Carleton.
After being named to the Associated Press All-America second team and the U.S. Basketball Writers of America All-America third team earlier this week, Carleton was named the 2019 Cheryl Miller Award winner, honoring the best small froward in women’s basketball on Thursday. With the award, Carleton was also named to the Naismith Starting Five.
Additionally, Carleton was also one of 10 players to be named a WBCA Coaches All-American. This is the first time that an Iowa State player has received the honor.
All of these awards come on the heels of what was arguably the greatest individual season in the history of Iowa State women’s basketball. Carleton set not only set a school record with 760 points on the season, but also in scoring average (21.7 points per game), field goals made (254) and field goals attempted (543).
