ISU head football coach Gene Chizik released a statement Monday regarding linebacker Ernest Ferguson’s arrest on Saturday.

“Consistent with the athletics department’s discipline policy and with team rules, I have suspended Ernest Ferguson indefinitely from our football program. I will take further action in the future,” Chizik said in the statement.

Ferguson, a freshman from Palm Beach, Fla., was arrested on charges of alleged simple assault.
