LETTERS: Multicultural Center finally a reality

Sarah Walter

For over a decade the student body at Iowa State has initiated discussion and organized around the development of a Multicultural Center. As a member of the GSB, I remember speaking with the director of the Memorial Union, Richard Reynolds, about the potential of this idea becoming a reality. The space was potentially available, but the funds were another obstacle. Over four years later, on Oct. 28, the Multicultural Center opened. I want to comment on the leadership of Richard, the student leaders and the ISU staff that were involved in driving this idea to a reality. I can’t help but be proud of the progressive vision demonstrated with the development of this center at Iowa State. I encourage everyone to visit the Multicultural Center, explore the refreshing diversity that is around you, learn, share and grow. There is no better time than now.
