Daily staff writer Madison Mayberry, junior in pre-journalism and mass communication of Orange City, won the “Hey, Can you Cook?!” competition on Monday’s episode of the “Rachael Ray Show.”

Mayberry will go to Paris for a two-week program at the culinary arts school Le Cordon Bleu. She also will receive an extensive kitchen makeover and will return to the sydicated daytime talk show soon for her own cooking segment.

Mayberry, the youngest of the five contestants who vied for the top prize, made an audition video and in early October received a call from Rachael Ray personally telling her she had been chosen for the show.

Some of the challenges included cooking at Disney World, Ellis Island and making an authentic Irish meal. Every challenge had a time limit  — some as short as 25 minutes.
