LETTERS: Obama’s ideas for America sensible
November 11, 2008
I have read many of Blake Hasenmiller’s opinions, but this last one takes the cake. The last article submitted shows his lack of character and intelligence. As much as I’d like to use McCain tactics and do nothing but attack his character, I’ll instead discuss the illogical and depraved idea he has presented in his last article.
First, the main point that President-elect Obama’s plans are illogical, emotion invoking, unintelligent and going to put us in a worse position than the Bush administration is flat out wrong. Many of Obama’s stances make more sense then McCain’s. Obama’s stance on energy is clearly a more thought out plan than just drilling more. The G.O.P.’s stance on abortion has played on the emotions more than any policy; I think some of you call it “baby murder.” Could you also tell me how tax cuts for the rich is a smart move and not flat out idiotic? Reagan tried this, and it failed. Obama’s policy isn’t a Robin Hood fairy tale. Obama’s stance on Iraq is clearly smarter than McCain’s and reflects what the citizens want. On that note, Hasenmiller, can you tell me how this war in Iraq makes us safe? Obama’s foreign policy on Iran, Pakistan, Russia and Iraq are all more diplomatic than McCain’s. This one may play on my emotions, but I still think it’s smart to treat the world population with respect as opposed to attempting to dominate them. I’d like to see our country diplomatic, as opposed to tyrannical. If you found your news in other places than FOX, Blake, you might see that’s what the world thinks of us.
Second, if you could please explain: Did you relate Obama’s win to women’s suffrage? I question if you know what it is to use your head.
This last election wasn’t a battle of logic versus emotion. No, not for me. You see, I used my head, and I still found Obama the better candidate. So did this country.
