CEDAR FALLS (AP) — The University of Northern Iowa’s leading receivers have been dismissed from the football team after they were arrested on drug charges.
Panther coach Mark Farley announced Monday that he met with both players individually on Sunday. He says Gray was dismissed immediately. Williams was dismissed on Monday after a second meeting with Farley.
Both players were arrested Friday on marijuana-related charges.
Gray was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to deliver and violation of the Iowa drug tax stamp law. Williams was charged with possession of marijuana.
Farley says the football program is held to a very high standard on and off the field and that school officials will do their best to meet those standards.
