We are only weeks away from one of the most pivotal elections in American history, and, as Iowans, we need to be sure we are electing the right candidates to lead us forward. Because this election is so important, I am voting to keep Tom Latham as our U.S. Congressman because he has a solid record of achieving results and providing independent leadership that we can depend upon and trust.

Congressman Latham is a leader on health care issues and he quickly recognized that Iowa is facing a real crisis because we have a lack of nurses in our clinics and hospitals. He knows that Iowans deserve the very best health care available, and instead of just talking about the issue, Tom wrote bipartisan legislation that will truly make a difference for our families and neighbors and keep our nurses in our communities, where they are badly needed.

With the outrageous gas prices putting an even bigger strain on our economy, Tom made it crystal clear that he believes that we need an all-encompassing energy plan that includes not only additional domestic drilling but also renewable fuels and incentives for conservation. American energy will mean American jobs and a stronger economy right here at home. This is not just an economic security issue but also a national security issue, since so much of our money is being sent overseas to dictators who do not have the best intentions for our country.

We need Tom Latham’s steady leadership during these troubling times now more than ever. This is an election that won’t just shape the next four years but, instead, will shape the next 40. Latham stands up for ordinary Iowans every day, and on election day I will proudly cast my vote for Congressman Tom Latham.
