LETTERS: Stay classy, campus graffiti artists
October 1, 2008
Dear campus graffiti artists,
I like your work, especially the stencil art. It’s bold and creative — it makes a good public statement. I enjoy seeing it.
But let’s keep it that way. Clean, neat, inconspicuous. If you must use words, keep it short — and don’t just scrawl your message with a spray can. If you must be controversial, keep it tasteful and informed. If you must make a building your canvass, paint somewhere people won’t mind.
It’s art. Public art. Make it respectable, because I like it.
