The ISU women’s soccer team will battle it out against the Nebraska Huskers on Friday night, wrapping up the season with a home game.

“I expect us to compete and play hard,” said coach Wendy Dillinger. “This last game will be a challenge.”

In the Big 12 Conference standings, the Huskers are in sixth place, while the Cyclones are currently in twelfth.

Nebraska will hope to weaken Iowa State’s defense this Friday.

The Cyclone defense has given up 36 goals this season.

The Huskers are in a three-way tie for the lead in corner kicks taken this year in, with 120 corners.

“Defensively, we’ve been working on not giving up corner kicks and keeping the ball in front of us,” said senior forward Leslie Hill.

Offensively, the Cyclones are ranked ninth in the Big 12 Conference and have 62 total points, with Leslie Hill counting for 10 of those points.

“Offensively, we’re working on shooting, taking shots, and putting them in the back of the net,” Hill said.

In the past 13 matches between the two teams, UNL has beaten Iowa State 10 times, but the Cyclones have won two of the last three, with last year’s match ending in a tie.

“Personally, I’m working on just being calm in front of the net and finish opportunities,” Hill said. “I need to do my job and be the best I can be.”

The Cyclones are going into their last game of the season with a good attitude and hoping for the best. The Huskers have a 1-6-0 record on the road this season.

“Seeing as it’s our last game for sure, everyone is just going to go all out, balls to the wall, and [hopefully we’ll] get a win,” Hill said, “We’re not going to hold anything back.”
