President Wendy Wintersteen responds to questions asked by members of the Iowa State Daily on Jan. 9.

Welcome new Cyclones!

You have made a great choice in deciding to come to Iowa State University for your college education. We are a supportive community, situated on a vibrant campus and bustling with the activity of a major research university and a rigorous academic institution. With more than 100 majors and 900 clubs and organizations, Iowa State offers something for everyone both inside and outside the classroom. We hope you will take advantage of the many opportunities in academics, athletics, the arts, leadership and research programs, and campus and community events.

No matter where you are from, you belong here at Iowa State. We strive every day to create a welcoming and inclusive environment where all individuals can achieve their full potential through hard work and dedication. As Cyclones, we believe in the Principles of Community: respect, purpose, cooperation, richness of diversity, freedom from discrimination, and the honest and respectful expression of ideas.

Our faculty, staff and administrators are eager to help you make a successful transition to your new life at Iowa State. Please don’t hesitate to ask questions, seek advice and make connections that you can continue throughout your time at Iowa State and beyond.

Good luck on your new adventure, and I look forward to seeing you on campus this fall!

Sincerely,

Wendy Wintersteen

President
