Cyclones succeed at ISU Open

The ISU cross country team won both the men’s and women’s races as the Cyclones hosted the ISU Open on Saturday.

Sophomore Clayton Carper won his second consecutive race of the season, placing first in the men’s 8,000-meter race.

The Mason City native finished in a time of 25 minutes, 27.69 seconds, 31 seconds ahead of second place Christopher Pannone of Colorado. Junior Zach McFall was the second highest finisher for the Cyclone men, finishing in ninth.

Cyclones Lisa Koll and Grace Kemmey, who both ran unattached, turned in a 1-2 finish in the women’s 6,000-meter race. Junior Anna Florzak made her Cyclone debut, taking 32nd place.

Iowa State will travel to Minneapolis on Saturday for the 23rd Annual Roy Griak Invitational.
