In late November, Comedy Central plans to air the special “A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All.” The special will star comedian Stephen Colbert.
HBO’s new series “True Blood” has already earned a second season. The series premiere was watched by more than 4 million people over the course of its multiple airings and on-demand availability. The second season is planned for summer 2009.
TNT has ordered additional seasons of its series “Saving Grace” and “Raising the Bar.” “Grace” recently ended the first half of its third season. The rest will air later this year. “Raising” will have a second season beginning sometime next year.
Steven Soderbergh is planning a biopic of pianist Liberace with hopes of Michael Douglas as the Las Vegas legend and Matt Damon as Scott Thorson, the man who said he had a five-year relationship with Liberace.
TBS has picked up “The Bill Engvall Show” for a third season set to air in the summer of 2009.
Famed author Nicholas Spark and Disney are developing a new novel and screen adaptation as a vehicle for Miley Cyrus. The book is expected for fall 2009.
DreamWorks Animation SKG Inc. Chief Executive Jeffrey Katzenberg said he hopes to make a sequel to this summer’s hit animated film “Kung Fu Panda.”
