Movie studios had record breaking revenue at theaters this summer. $4.2 billion was recorded from the first weekend in May through Labor Day. The previous record was in 2007 with $4.18 billion.
The debut of the CW’s “90210” was viewed by 4.9 million viewers. Though it sounds small, it’s the largest audience for a scripted series yet for the 2-year-old CW Network.
Steven Bocho’s TNT legal drama “Raising the Bar” debuted Monday night to record numbers. 7.7 million tuned in making it the most watched series premiere ever on cable — the previous holder was “The 4400” on USA Network in 2004.
The two creators behind HBO’s 2007 cult favorite “Flight of the Conchords” said the second season will likely be its last season.
This season of FX’s popular cop drama “The Shield” will be its last.
The Library of Congress will give its second Gershwin Prize for Popular Song to Stevie Wonder in Feb. 2009. The first prize went to Paul Simon in 2007.
Basketball star LeBron James will be at the Toronto International Film Festival this weekend for the debut of “More Than A Game,” a documentary about his rise to stardom and how he and four friends overcame the odds to win a national championship in high school.
