GSB to open legislative session today

Allison Suesse —

The last week in August marks a number of firsts on the ISU campus.

The Government of the Student Body will hold its first meeting of the year in the Campanile Room of the Memorial Union at 7 p.m.

“There’s a big agenda for the first meeting of the year. The senate leadership and the finance director have been working hard the past few weeks,” said Daniel Fischer, GSB president and senior in agricultural business.

Wednesday’s meeting, the first of the year, will concentrate mostly on housekeeping business for the organization: filling several senate positions that opened up over the summer, and including the confirmation of the director of public relations.

Fischer said the first meeting will be a “clean-up,” making some changes official.

The senate will also be voting to fill positions on the Public Relations Committee and the University Affairs Committee.

Fischer also noted that a number of Supreme Court positions have opened up and students are encouraged to apply. Students interested in these positions should go to GSB’s Web site for more information.

Fischer also said he, Maggie Luttrell, GSB vice president and senior in history, and Tom Danielson, finance director and senior in civil engineering, plan to attend the meetings about the recreation center renovation project and encouraged students to attend the open forum.
