GSB opens session by filling vacancies

House-keeping items filled the agenda of the first Government of the Student Body meeting Wednesday night.

GSB spent most of its first meeting of the legislative session seating new senators and filling spots on committees.

The meeting opened with an optimistic message for the upcoming year from Daniel Fischer, GSB president and senior in agricultural business.

“You are all in a position to make a difference,” Fischer said as he addressed the senate.

Jonathan Turk, GSB senator and junior in political science, orientated the new members of the organization with a presentation regarding the structure of a typical GSB senate meeting.

The senate voted on new members of GSB. New additions to the organization include Nathan Rockman, senior in political science, who was elected to an off-campus senator position. In addition to Rockman, Matthew Strayer, senior in economics, was also elected to be an off-campus representative.

Chandra Peterson, sophomore in political science, had to switch her constituency representation from IRHA to Campustown due to a move to a new residence.

The senate voted on the new members of the public relations committee, which included Rockman, Nathan Dobbels, sophomore in agricultural education, Emily Meggers, sophomore in veterinary medicine, Christine Wimmer, junior in art and design, and Blake Lankford, senior in hotel, restaurant and institution management.

Members of the university affairs committee were also nominated. Matthew Strayer, senior in economics, Derek Grygiel, sophomore in chemical engineering, Luke Roling, junior in chemical engineering, Aaron Gross, graduate student in entomology and Alan Dibble, senior in industrial technology.
