FEEDBACK: Latham supports domestic exploration of oil despite Dems
August 4, 2008
We all know that there is no one magic solution that would bring down energy and gas prices and make our country independent of foreign sources of energy. However, there are several important components that could be very helpful in making our country and our state more energy independent and therefore create American jobs and help our economy grow and prosper.
That is why I support Congressman Tom Latham and am looking forward to voting for him this fall. Latham has sponsored bold legislation in Congress that will grow our supply of American controlled energy by allowing for safe and environmentally friendly drilling and exploration in areas that would dramatically and rapidly increase our energy supply in America. More supply would mean less pain at the pump for Iowans.
Latham has long been a tireless fighter and advocate for renewable fuels like ethanol and biodiesel, but he also knows that we need to continue to add nuclear power, solar and wind technologies too. Latham knows that we must have a comprehensive energy policy that aims to make America safer and more prosperous because American energy means American jobs.
Unfortunately, Nancy Pelosi and her Democratic allies in Congress are blocking Latham’s bill from getting a vote in Congress. Now that many independent public opinion polls are showing broad bi-partisan support for additional domestic exploration of oil, isn’t it a shame that Pelosi and her Democratic friends in Congress will deny Americans the opportunity to pay less at the pump?
Tom Latham does not play petty partisan political games. He instead listens to us and works on our behalf. I support Tom Latham because he is a proven leader who understands the needs of the people he represents.
