ISU’s Koll honored as scholar-athlete of the year

NEW ORLEANS – Iowa State distance runner Lisa Koll has been named the women’s Division I outdoor track scholar-athlete of the year.
Koll won both an NCAA outdoor title and set an American collegiate record the 10,000-meter run. She also competed at the 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials. Koll finished eighth at the trials, where she was the only amateur competitor.
Koll, a native of Fort Dodge, had a 3.98 cumulative GPA at Iowa State and graduated in just three years.
The honor was handed out by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
