“Not since Bob Dylan burst through has Minnesota produced such a confident and creative songwriter and social observer,” according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune of singer songwriter Stuart Davis. Self-described as “‘Post-Apocalyptic Folk Punk Rock’ or ‘Dharma Pop,'” Davis has been touring for more than 15 years to promote his music.
However, his most recent work is a departure of sorts for Davis. “Locals familiar with Davis’ songs and quick wit will notice a change in his musical repertoire on ‘Something Simple,'” according to the Colorado Daily newspaper. “Stepping outside his comfort zone, the musician decided to create a record that was a little less quirky and more mainstream. Davis says he felt it was time to write songs that really resonated with the general public.”
Not only will Davis’ performance at Iowa State include a CD release party for “Something Simple,” but Davis will be recording the performance for a live CD release. Stop by on Saturday night for the M-Shop’s last performance of the semester and this major event in Davis’ career.
