ISU tennis team falls at Big 12 championships

The ISU tennis team’s season ended Thursday morning after a first-round loss to Kansas in the Big 12 championships.

The Cyclones, seeded 12th, fell 4-0 to the fifth-seeded Jayhawks.

Kansas got out to an early lead, winning the doubles point after its No. 2 and No. 3 doubles teams won.

In singles competition, the Jayhawks got the last three points for the win, taking the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 matches.

The Cyclones No. 1 singles player, freshman Erin Karonis, was leading her match 6-3, 5-5 when it was called because Kansas had secured enough points for the victory.

The Jayhawks move on to face the fourth-seeded Colorado Buffaloes tomorrrow.
