LETTER: Crampton, Edwards look for bigger, better things that GSB can do
March 7, 2008
We as students deserve more from the Government of the Student Body. Some people have claimed that both sets of candidates have the same message; therefore, we should factor in GSB years of service when deciding whom to vote for. Wrong.
Ryan Crampton and Jeff Edwards have a very different message from Fischer-Luttrell. If we seriously want to see a difference this time next year, we should use a different formula. How about simply listening to what the candidates are saying?
Crampton and Edwards speak of the need for change and a fresh perspective. Their platform does not simply revolve around the fundamental requirements and obligations of holding office – they look for bigger and better things that the GSB should be doing for students. As students, we should expect our student leaders to be doing work for us. The GSB should be in tune with student interests, needs and concerns. This isn’t going to happen if we just continue down the same old GSB path of doing things.
Students are voting for Crampton-Edwards because of their positive message, to relate to all kinds of students and their new vision for GSB. Real change needs to happen, and we as students deserve change now. I’ll be voting for Crampton-Edwards, and I hope you will vote for change as well this Monday and Tuesday.
