On Monday, the announcement was made by the Veishea committee on the acts that are coming to Iowa State the week of Veishea. One major change includes the requirement of wristbands to get into the music acts on Friday and Saturday nights.
Here is a complete list of the entertainment for Veishea week.
Monday, April 7
Who: Michael Ian Black
When: 8 p.m.
Where: Durham Great Hall of the Memorial Union
Black is an actor, comedian and comedy writer who has appeared on MTV and CBS over a period of six years. He starred on the MTV comedy show “The Slate” as well as the NBC drama “Ed.” He has also appeared on VH1 and Comedy Central programs, such as “Crank Yankers” and “Reno 911.” Black will discuss his careers he has had throughout his life.
Tuesday, April 8
What: “VEISHEA Says I’m Funny”
When: 10 p.m.
Where: Maintanence Shop
The comedy event will feature two-time past winner Racky Dunkin as the emcee.
Wednesday, April 9
Who: Anthony Potmesil
When: 7 p.m.
Where: Durham Great Hall of the Memorial Union
Potmesil is a comedian-hypnotist who has performed around the country and is known for his unique performances.
Friday, April 11
What: Veishea Comedy Show
Who: John Oliver and Rory Albanese
When: 10 p.m.
Where: Stephens Auditorium
John Oliver is a comedian with roots in “The Daily Show with Jon Stewart” and has performed at such events as the Edinburgh Festival in Scotland and the Aspen Comedy Festival. Rory Albanese, the opening act and also rooted in “The Daily Show,” recently toured on Lewis Black’s “Red White and Screwed” tour and is co-executive producer of “The Daily Show.”
Wristbands, at $5 each, are required for admission to the music events at the band field Friday and Saturday nights. There are 7,000 available.

What: Battle of the Bands
When: Friday evening
Where: Former marching band field, between Howe Hall and the College of Design
Battle of the Bands is a competition featuring local bands. To apply, visit www.veishea.iastate.edu. Applications are due by 5 p.m. March 7.
Who: Eve 6
When: After midnight
Where: Former marching band practice field
Eve 6 is an alternative rock band from Southern California and is known for their songs “Here’s to the Night” and “Inside Out.”
Saturday, April 12
Who: Jim Karol
What: Mentalist Show
Where: Central Campus stage
Jim Karol combines feats of the mind and comedy and dangerous stunts in his shows. He is known for his ability to predict the lottery and memorize nation’s capitals. He has made several TV appearances and holds three Guinness World Records.
Who: Team FMX Motocross
Where: Molecular Biology Parking Lot
Team FMX is a group of freestyle motocross riders who perform high-flying techniques. The riders have been on such programs as “American Choppers” and “Jackass.”
Who: Ride & Glide
Where: Molecular Biology Parking Lot
Ride & Glide is a motor-cross stunt group from Tacoma, Wash. The group has performed at various places in the Northwest.
Saturday night music
What: Live @ Veishea
Who: Anchond O (Latin/rock), Blessid Union of Souls (rock), Bobby Valentino (R&B), Congress of A Crow (rock/pop/reggae), Jamie O’Neal (country), the Mark Little Band (improvisation/vibe) and Stanwood Charlie (“ska-core”)
Where: Former marching band field, between Howe Hall and the College of Design
Live @ Veishea will feature several bands and artists covering several different genres of music.
Wristbands will be sold to the first 7,000 people for $5. Students, faculty and staff may purchase one wristband with an ISU ID card, and if any remain by Thursday, April 10, ISU Students may purchase one additional wristband for a friend. The wristbands increase to $7 on the day of the show. Alumni may purchase wristbands through the ISU Alumni Association. No one will be admitted to the marching band’s former practice field without a wristband. The wristbands will be available at the following locations:

What: Stars Over VEISHEA
Play: “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum”
When: Friday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m.;
Saturday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m.;
Sunday, April 13 at 2 p.m.
Where: Fisher Theatre
The story of this comedy play takes place in house of a rich man. His son, Hero, falls in love with the neighbor’s courtesan, but she has been bought by a captain who is on his way to pick her up. Hero’s servant, determined to get his freedom, promises to rescue the courtesan in exchange for his freedom.
What: Cyclone Idol
When: Preliminaries are March 31, April 2 and 3 at 7 p.m.; Finals are April 10 at 7 p.m. and
Sunday, April 13 at 2 p.m.
Where: Maintenance Shop (preliminaries) and Stephens Auditorium (finals)
An event to determine the best singer at Iowa State. The first place winner receives $300, second gets $100 and third gets $50. Applications, available at www.veishea.iastate.edu, are due by 5 p.m. on March 14.
