CD Review: Goo Goo Dolls
November 9, 2007
Artist: Goo Goo Dolls
Album: “Greatest Hits: Volume One: The Singles”
Release: Nov. 13
Label: Warner Brothers
Alt. rock greats The Goo Goo Dolls are releasing their first compilation album, conveniently packaging all of their top-10 singles onto one CD that is rumored to be the first of a two-disc series.
The most noticeable changes are remixes of “Name” and “Feel the Silence.”
“Name” falls completely flat as the tired vocals of lead singer John Rzeznik struggle to keep up with the ghost of his youthful range.
“Feel the Silence,” which was remixed with Michael Brauer, whose past work with the Rolling Stones and Paul McCartney definitely shows through – sounds like something Bono would be proud to sing.
Longtime fans will be pleased with the rest of the album, which promises to be a relationship-song staple with tracks like “Let Love In” and “Iris” taking the first and last positions on the CD respectively.
