How thrilling is your college life?
October 31, 2007
Four years of college life. For some, five. Maybe even six.
Whether you’re a freshman finishing up your first semester and wondering how you’re going to pass that Psych 101 test, or a super-senior within sight of the finish line, we’ve all made some memories. Not every school offers a crazy, although disappointing, tailgating season. Not every college offers an endless array of frat parties to entertain you on the weekend. Let’s be honest, how many schools offer an excuse to publicly make out at midnight twice during the year?
Iowa State promises prospective students an “adventure of a lifetime.” For upperclassmen, the following quiz is a scorecard to see how thrilling your collegiate career has been. For freshmen, look at this quiz as more of a checklist . well, some of it anyway.
Before you embark upon the quiz, keep in mind that “thrilling” doesn’t always mean exciting, happy or politically correct. Thrilling can mean scandalous, out-of-the-ordinary or just plain ridiculous. Just remember, you only live once.
How to play:
Reward points for each item you’ve completed. Only award points once unless indicated otherwise.

Final score: _____
0-100
You’ve lived a very, very quiet life. Get out and live a little. Acquaint yourself with the swans, the Campanile or Welch Avenue. Just go out.
101-200
You’ve had a few thrills, but life could stand to be a bit more exciting. Next time you’re lounging around with the TV on, get up and start adding on a few more points.
201-300
Not a bad start. Not exactly boring but not anything to get too excited about. See what you can do to add a few more points. We’re not suggesting you cheat on an exam, but if you’re feeling crazy, why not attempt the Beardshear/Curtiss challenge?
301-400
Life is good. People might not call you reckless, but you’ve had your average share of thrills. A few more points couldn’t hurt, but for the meantime, you’re good to go.
401-500
Life is still good. You’ve got character, stories to tell (and some better not told) and are likely to have more. Keep it up.
501-700
Life is certainly exciting but that could be a good or a bad thing, depending on how you racked up those points. It’s guaranteed you have a number of stories that start out “remember that night when.”
701-1,000
If you’re in this point range, it’s safe to say that no one can consider you dull. Once again, depending on how you racked up those points, it might be wise to slow down. But then again, you only live once, right?
1,001+
Easy there, Turbo. It’s surprising you’ve made it this far.
