Sanderson dealing with broken nose

As if the pain of a knee to the face wasn’t enough, sophomore 157-pounder Cyler Sanderson may have the inconvenience of wearing a face mask during Sunday’s match against Minnesota’s fourth-ranked senior C.P. Schlatter.

Sanderson broke his nose on Nov. 18 when he attempted a shot on Clarion University’s Travis Uncapher, who was simultaneously driving into the 11th-ranked Cyclone with his knee.

Sanderson sat out his next match of the day before returning to wrestle West Virginia’s 15th-ranked senior Zac Fryling. He beat Fryling, 3-2, and started the match wearing face-shielding headgear, but took it off early in the match because it was obstructing his vision.

Sanderson, now 8-0 for the season, is wearing the special headgear in practice, but said he doesn’t know if he will wear it against Schlatter.
