Son of Olympic medalist, brother of coach to wrestle for Cyclones

Two wrestlers with a pedigree of success have signed national letters of intent to join the ISU wrestling team next season.

Nate Carr Jr. – the son of Olympic bronze medalist and three-time Iowa State NCAA Champion Nate Carr Sr. – will redshirt this season for Iowa Central Community College before joining, preserving three years of eligibility.

Carr Jr. won the 157-pound junior college national title last season and was 210-2 with three Georgia state titles as a high schooler.

Andrew Long, a top-10 Amateur Wrestling News recruit at 119 pounds, also committed to the Cyclones. The two-time Iowa state champion is the younger brother of ISU assistant Dylan Long, an NCAA runner-up at Northern Iowa.

Andrew Long is entering his senior season at Creston High School and is ranked No. 1 in Class 2A.
