ISU wrestler Joe Curran has been released from the hospital after being taken out of Saturday’s Cyclone Open on a stretcher with heart trouble.

Curran, 21, was taken to Mary Greeley Medical Center after his quarterfinal match with Iowa’s Luke Lofthouse because his heartbeat was too fast.

Coach Cael Sanderson said Curran’s heart rate was brought down and that he is now OK. The medical staff conducted tests, but the cause of the trouble is still unknown.

Curran started for the ISU wrestling team in 2005 as a true freshman. He redshirted last season and is in contention for the 197-pound roster spot this season.
