Education

She earned her undergraduate degree at Wellesley College, a women’s liberal arts college in Wellesley, Mass., which opened in 1875. She became a Democrat in 1968 while attending Wellesley. In 1969, Hillary entered Yale Law School, where she served on the Board of Editors of Yale Law Review and Social Action and interned with children’s advocate Marian Wright Edelman.

Pre-Senate career

After graduation, Clinton advised the Children’s Defense Fund in Cambridge and joined the impeachment inquiry staff. She joined the faculty of the University of Arkansas Law School in 1975 and the Rose Law Firm in 1976. In 1978, President Jimmy Carter appointed her to the board of the Legal Services Corporation, and Bill Clinton became governor of Arkansas. As Arkansas’ first lady, she was chairwoman the Arkansas Educational Standards Committee and co-founded the Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families.

Family life

Hillary met her husband Bill while attending Yale. The two were described as inseparable and married in 1975. On Feb. 27, 1980, their daughter Chelsea was born. Chelsea is currently attending Stanford University in California. Bill and Hillary reside in Chappaqua, N.Y., and Washington, D.C.

Clinton declared her candidacy on her Web site the weekend of Jan. 18, sparking massive attention and instantly becoming the one to beat.
