ISU freshman tennis player Erin Karonis lost in the final round of the B Flight in singles at the Drake Invitational.

Missouri’s Maureen Modesto defeated Karonis in three sets, 7-6 (7-3), 5-7, 6-4, on Sunday. It was Karonis first loss in the tournament, as she defeated UNI’s Carolina Hannes on Friday, Missouri’s Raquel Wagner and UNI’s Diana Mendez on Saturday.

Freshman Liza Wischer also had a good tournament, winning her first two matches before falling to Modesto in the semifinals, 3-6, 7-5, 6-2. Modesto also beat ISU freshman Reka Kelemen, 6-3, 6-2, in the second round.

Sophomore Alyssa Palen also made the semifinals of the A Flight consolation singles bracket. Palen lost her first match of the tournament before defeating Taynara Moraes of UNI 6-1, 6-4, in the first round of consolation. Palen then lost to Missouri’s Kaitlin Dunham 6-0, 6-0.
